Farm to School

The Wily Carrot is excited to a part of the local Farm to School program here in Montezuma and La Plata counties.  For the second year, the farm will be growing fresh, organic produce for the kids in Cortez, Mancos, Durango and Ignacio school districts.  So far, the farm is growing tomatoes, carrots, radishes, onions, basil, cilantro for the schools.

Thanks to LiveWell Montezuma, the school food directors and everyone else that helped to make this happen!

  1. Farm to School Folks,

I am interested in having my class do some field work on some local farms this spring planting season. southwest Open school is also in need of some local farmers to help SWOS design some raised bed gardens and hoop house if the grant money allows.

Additionally, I have some students interested in working on farms and getting that great experience over the summer. Furthermore, many of these students could really use some income even if the amount is minuscule. This could be a really valuable connection for some of my students to make. So if you have any need or know of anyone who does please let me know.

Lastly, I only have this contact info but could use Kellie's ,Gabe's, Mike's, Dusty's or any other local farmer contact info so as to contact these great people directly. thanks so much!!!
